Red light flashing, Xperia Play will not turn on.

I was checking my phone one morning when it asked me to update, after that a message popped up saying that for the next update the phone had to be turned off for about 5 minutes. It never turned on again after that.

I already posted a discussion notice about it not turning and the wonderful team member helped me and told me to flash my phone and try the updater. I've done both now and my phone is yet to turn on.

I believe the flashing must of done something as now the LED light on the power button flashes red when I hold down it. But it still does not turn on.

This has been really frustrating and the problem still continues to go on.

Now when I try pc companion update service and hold the back button and connect the phone my pc doesnt recognise the device. Same message pops up if I just plug my phone in normally.

*I've been using the phone 2-3 months before this happened

*I bought it online and cannot return

*I really need help.

i guess u must be having some battery issue, usually red light flahses when there is some battery issue. did u remove the battery keep it again and kept the mobile for charge before turning it on ?

When I tried that a backlight came on for about 5 seconds and then went back to its off position but now the red light is just continuously on not flashing.

simple question

does the LED turns orange/yellow/green when you connect it to the PC or Wall charger or Car charger ? if it doesn't then try a different USB cable and/or charger(s)

if the LED won't turn on after using different cables and/or chargers then it could be the battery

maybe you can go to a store that has that phone on display and ask them to borrow the battery for a few seconds to see if it turn on, if it does then obviously is the battery, if it doesn't

then there could be another hardware issue such as the

USB connector or motherboard on the phone itself

So is your phone working now? My x10i got completely saturated in a boat 2 days ago. The red light is flashing and its just being shit. the screen won't work at all. grrr.

still doesnt turn on
yesterday the camera light just randomly flashed like crazy until i took the battery out

and i can access the memory card on my computer for like 10 seconds

Repair Xperia Play Red Blinking Light:

To repair a xperia play that doesn't turn on but sometimes a red light just go blinking the only thing you need is a tiny flat screwdriver! Gently insert the screewdrive in the charging port there you'll see a tiny flat part. Just try slowly to level it up to the extend that the flat part is in the middle. Then plug in the charger. To me I think the problem is that the charger doesn't make the right contact therefore the pc don't recognize the phone and the wall charger doesn't do anything. This happened to me twice already.

I don't think that you have to do all this, but I believe too that the red light is caused because the battery is empty and can't charge itself because there comes no electricity trough the charger because the charging port is somehow not working.

This might sound crazy! But take your battery sd card and sim out place your phone in a plastic bag well wrapped place in the freezer for 30-45 minutes then take out leave for about 4-5 minutes insert battery and the phone will boot on!! This worked for me hope this helps you

I have for some time now the same problem with my play and the news weren't so good for me at least since the mainboard after one fall broke or that's what they told me(it wasn't sony repair center but the one from the shop i bought it)..anyway i was using the phone and it just went blank and then the red light appeared just as u describe it..It wasn't battery or charger problem for sure we checked..
