So I bought this phone on Dec 23/2016 and I absolutely love it! Until about 2 weeks ago it started making an odd sound, and I have no clue where it is coming from. The phone has gone through its latest updates and everything, so I am not sure if it is a software issue. I have checked the notification settings on many of my social media apps so I am pretty sure it is not from those. Also this sound acts at random, is does not occur all the time and starts and ends randomly. There are also 2 variations of the sound I higher and lower pitch, the lower one is more constant. This is a really big problem because sometimes this occurs during calls, when checking emails and when watching video, it can be a real disturbance and I don't know how to stop it!! It would be a great help if you could try to troubleshoot the problem, thanks.

Hey. this is a very unusual problem. First, try to carry out restoration using Xperia Companion, and if that does not help, you should contact the service center warranty

Hi @HA1995, welcome to our forum!

I'm so sorry to hear about that.

Do you remember if you installed a new application or installed a new system update just prior to this starting to occur?

When the sound is being played / is done playing, do you have a new notification in the status bar of your phone? If you do, could you please try and hold with your finger on it and press the little round icon with a "!" inside of it, then you will see which application is sending the notification and you can check if you can turn off notifications for the specific app.

If you have recently bought a case of the phone where you have a bus card or credit card the NFC sensor on the phone may be trying to read the card and a sound will be played. The NFC sensor is placed at the back of your phone, and you can turn this feature off in Settings > More > NFC.

If there is no change when NFC has been turned off, I'd recommend that you reboot your phone in safe mode to make sure that a third party application is not the cause of this.

Let me know how it goes!

I've had a very similar problem, but the NFC is turned off (I normally keep it off and have no issues) but it happened twice a few days ago but now it's just every time I play music or use anything with sound. I've never had this problem before.

Hi @Bigbird1, welcome to our forum and that must be very annoying, sorry to hear about that.

Do you see any new notification when you hear this sound? If it's coming from an application there should be a notification in the notification field, to let you know if, for example have a new text message that you have not read.

If there is no new notification when you hear this sound, do you perhaps have your device in a case together with a credit card, a bus card or similar? Most of our devices are equipped with a NFC sensor that will try to read these cards and you will get a short vibration, a sound will be played and you will see an error message on the screen saying that there is no application to run this service or "NFC error", so start with deactiving this function (you can enable it later on). The setting is found in Settings > More > NFC.

If you still receive this sound at random times with NFC turned off, try restarting your device in safe mode, so we can see if a third party application is the cause of this, as they will be temporarily disabled in this mode.

Let me know how it goes!
