Xperia XA Camera problem

Hi. Im using Xpeia XA Dual (F3116)

After few month using this phone (Since official launch) , i've encounter some problem about the camera.

1. The camera display always turn upside down and has front facing mode only (No appear icon to switch from front to rear camera).

2. Sometimes i cannot open camera application and display error message like this.

"the camera may be in use by another application........"

but i already closed all apps and it still remain error.

3. Overheat when use the camera. When i take few photos, the phone's back become warm and then hot. Is this related to 1st and 2nd problem?

Can anyone solve this problem...?

Hi @superjoy,

I am sorry to hear about that.

Could you try to see if the same occurs in safe mode? If you experience the same behaviour while in safe mode, see if the camera works in Diagnostics by going to Settings > About phone > Diagnostics > Test > Camera.

Could you mention some troubleshooting that you have attempted @MatthewEdge? For example, have you tried a software repair using Xperia Companion?

My father in law has the same issuese. I have boothed it up in save mode and nothing changes. After running diagnostics check it says that the camera is not connected. I havent got the problems my self. And after i bought my xperia xa my girlfriend and her parents switched over to xperia xa's.

Macro seems to works fine I've seen the icon on my xa screen many times whilst using the camera. The camera has to be rock steady as if on a tripod then it should be ok. If factory reset or software repair doesn't help provide logs using the built in logging application. All the details on how to do this are on here already.

I figured it out for my father in law. It seems to be a factory error. His selfie camera is his main camera. And the main camera is not connected. The picture upside down is just the lens put on upside down. By using your call app and call *#*#7378423#*#* go to service test and select camera or secundairy camera. If its a black screen its a hardware issue

Front camera is not working

I am sorry to hear that.

If a factory reset did not help, could you try a software repair using Xperia Companion? If you still experience the behaviour then I recommend getting in touch with your Local support in order to be assisted in sending your device in to an authorized service center.

I had bought the F3116 model of xperia xa and after using it for one month, I have found out a few issues with the camera.... I don't know is it the problem due to the camera app or the sensor build, but it literally does not allows the device to take have a minimum quality level to keep up the name of the company.... I've found that the camera quality after zooming gets terrible.. The unzoomed photos look decent when not zoomed but when zooming on the photos, the blurring is visible and it gets really awkward sometimes, it seems like the photos are brushed and look really really bad when zoomed, also increasing ISO causes a lot of picture noise.. Also i've found heating issues with the camera.. I really appreciate the colour producing quality of the camera as it seems more real life than other mobile cameras.. I hope the developers will solve these problems as soon as possible as the device is really great except for some problems and i would love finding them solved in near future....

hi... i have been using xperia xa dual since 7 mnths ...its camera quality isn't that great from very starting i thought sony's mobile camera might have this issue with mobile handset....but now it has worsen...i am unable to click any decent picture...every picture i take has no clearity...seems like some kind of fogor smoke has covered up the camera lens....thght its ol clear but stil it show no clearity...

this is very disappointing for me...i did not expect this from the big brand like sony.

Just found a possible fix. I had the same issue with my xa ultra. I checked diagnostics and my camera hardware was working. So i disabled the camera app that comes with the handset. And downloaded a different camera app from google playstore. Now my camera( front and back) works again.

Hey guys i have xperia xa ultra,i was facing the same front camera issue i just found a possible fix 1)unmount sd card and remove it 2)GOTO SYSTEM APPS-->SHOW ALL-- 3)YOU SHOULD SEE 3 TO 4 CAMERA RELATED APPS 4)FIRST YOU SHOULD FORCE STOP THEM 5)THEN YOU SHOULD CLEAR THEIR DATA'S 6)NOW MAKE SURE THAT YOU DID ALL THE ABOVE 7)NOW RESTART THE MOBILE 8)NOW CONNECT YOUR SD CARD TO PC AND COPY THE NECESSARY FILES AND FORMAT SD CARD 9)NOW INSERT SD CARD AND ENJOY THE CAMERA .. Bought my phone two months ago. Something is seriously wrong with my back camera. Whenever i load the camera application, the image is wavy as if the phone is under the water with a continuous crackling sound as if its short circuiting.

I bought my xperia xa last november, 2016.
Then i experience the same problem. I have reformat my phone 3 times but same problem occurs in the camera.
Fortunately i think i found whats wrong. This is what i did.
I disable GOOGLE APP and Uninstall FACEBOOK MESSENGER, and my phone works now without camera error.

I have the same issue. My back camera won't work, I have done the following steps.

•Tried resetting the phone
•Tried factory resetting the phone
•Tried clearing the data/cache on the camera app
•Tried another camera app
•Tried disabling the camera app and using another camera app

None of the above worked, I don't have access to a PC to try Sony companion reset but I doubt that will work either.

I noticed yesterday that when my battery died, I let it charge for a bit, after switching the phone back on the camera works again for about 1-2 minutes before failing again. Could this be a software issue then? Although I've only had the phone about a week it was working for the first 2 days but after two small updates, that's when it's started with the problem. Front camera works fine but because the back camera doesn't work some apps won't show you the button to use the front camera so most of the time you're stuck without any camera at all. I don't think it's a hardware issue because, like I said, it works again for about a minute after battery dies. I've tried it twice now and it does it both times.
Sorry for the long essay, just want to help people understand
