How'd you know you are still charged?

i'm being informed by my wireless carrier that i'm using mobile data from my sim while i'm connected to my wifi for browsing. even my mobile data is turn off

Have you turned off background data for each app individually. Go to settings then WiFi and or data under the graph will be the list of apps used click on each and every one and set the slider to the on position this should stop any app from using a internet connection whether it be WiFi or data unless you are using it

Also in settings location tap the three dots top right then turn both sliders to the off position

That's all I do, turn off auto syncing, all apps background data is disabled and I only use the data connection when needed mainly and I'm on a contract and never get charged for extra/background data.

@jackRenz16 try going to settings then WiFi/data(do this for both) under the usage graph you'll see a list of all the apps in your device you've used. click on each and every app in the list and set the slider to the on position to restrict background data use for each individual app. I have no data being used unless I tell it too by switching on my 4g data used all my Xperia devices in this way with no effect on syncing ect.

hi, same problm, did everything u said but im still getting charged. i had the xperia z3 compact before and this never happened. im so sick of waking up and getting extra charges while im connected to wifi. i restricted everything, even paused my mobile data consumption

Please help, I get exactly the same issue on my brand new XA. I have data usage turned off and WiFi on. My mobile connects using mobile data and as soon as that happen my provider sends me a SMS letting me know that I have been charged the daily amount for data usage. When I look at which app used mobile data, I see it was the Android operating system. The only thing that kept my mobile from using mobile data was to turn the flight mode on. However when in flight mode, I can't receive phone calls. This seems like a bug!

One thing that I noticed was when I was turning Mobile Data off it was still on and I found out from my battery usage that showed me Mobile Radio Active is using the battery for a long time while it was turned off. So after a little bit of search, I found something that shocked me, it's an android bug called " Mobile Radio Active Bug" and it's not just for Sony, almost most of the brands have this bug on android Lollipop and Marshmallow. The Radio remains on even when you turn it off. You can find this article here

To get rid of this bug there is a Module that should be installed on android to turn the Radio off after you turn it off. I installed that and the problem solved for me.

I'm having the same problem with my new xperia xa connected to wifi, data off, background data restricted there is no way I should be using data but I'm using data every 2-3 hours, ive put my sim back into my old M2 and I'm not using data so it must be my new phone?? Did you find a resolution to this problem?? Thanks

Sony, in the new build, you can enable 'disableOthers=true' in wifi settings ?. It will block data when wifi activates.

I have the same issue for months now. I even deleted the APNs, so there should be no way my cellphone should be able to use data. The newest update did not fix the issue, what I was hoping for. We can just wait for the update of the next version of Android and hope this will fix the issue. I'm a Sony fan but to be honest it is very tough to stay a fan under these circumstances. This issue makes the phone more or less useless as it does not work as it supposed to be.

I had the same bug until a few days ago. Now the annoying pop-up keeps showing but says zero data charge. It shows up at least once every two minutes. This is so annoying! My phone is just four months old and I feel like smashing it under my heel.
