Forcing restart and safe mode solves the problem only temporarily, then it comes back. To me it seems that the bug is in the Settings app, because it freezes when I try to go into the wifi and reset settings. I've considered resetting the phone compeletely, but I'm not sure that it's necessary since it works some of the time.

Mine is the same. I have solved it but not in an ideal way. when I forced restart and the WiFi came on I was able to go in advanced WiFi settings and always keep WiFi on which solved the WiFi problem but whenever I try to shut down I have to force shutdown or restart.

I haven't contacted Orange, if that's what you mean. I'm now quite certain that the problem is in the Settings app, because I cannot click on some of the menus and the app freezes regardless of how many times I restart the phone (usually through forced restart). Also, when I scroll the apps and try to force stop or delete cache etc, sometimes it freezes. I've seen that they recommend resetting the phone for various issues here on the site, and it involves backing up your content via a PC app, before you reset. I would have to try that that on my home computer, so I don't know when I can do that.

I can confirm same problem - when device goes to sleep mode and it is moved outside of WIFI. WIFI in settings is set to off and it is not possible to switch it on. It always returns to off.

Also it is not possible to restart or switch off whole mobile device. If I try to restart only message about restarting is displayed... (Only hard reset helps.)

And what is absolutely terrible, battery is quickly drained!!!

What I also found:

- it happens also in safe mode!

- in this state it is not possible to check some settings for battery (graph about battery consuming, extended battery settings). Settings complete freezes then.

.

I have Sony Xperia XA1 updated to latest Android Oreo, build version 48.1.A.0.1.129 and I noticed this problem for the first time about one week ago. I had not became aware of it before. Phone was updated to Oreo in middle of April.

Now, I switched WIFI complete off and I'll see, but it is not a solution. Any ideas what to do?

I can confirm all of the above, including the battery draining (that was the first clue before I noticed the wifi problem). Same updates, problem started Last Thursday or maybe Friday.

I don't have any ideas, apart from trying a total factory reset, but I'm not a tech specialist... I would expect that Sony can fix it, since it seems to be some kind of a bug..
