Forgot screenlock patern

I have a new XA1 Plus, and I didn’t connected it to the pc yet. And I forgot the screenlock patern. I tried to connect it to the pc companion but it keeps telling me to unlock the phone first. I tried to log on recovery menu, but it didn’t come out . What should I do ?!!!!

Hi @Maximorlius,

I'm sorry to hear this.

You can reset your device by performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. Note that when you start the process your device should be turned off and not connected to your computer.

Happy to see that you repaired it.

This is post not meant as an offence for you but merely to help other people avoid the problems you have had.

To be a bit safer than just end up with a locked device you can do several things.

- setup automatic backups

- In your Google account

- If it is present on your device Xperia Backup & restore

- setup fingerprint scanning

- setup Smart Lock (for instance device unlocked when you are at home)

- write down your pattern or unlock code

- select USB configuration - when device is connected with USB it sets automatic to file transfer MTP

- this is in Developer Options, activate this by going to About Phone-> Tap on Build Number several times

- have you set USB configuration to MTP then you can use USB and Xperia Companion to backup your device before doing Software Repair
