That is a great question, because it reveals that there is no way to do this on the stock messaging app. It forces you to add recipients one at a time. Quite annoying. But if you switch to WhatsApp you can create groups easily. It has a nice UI too. Of course, everyone in the group needs to have WhatsApp, but I've found that lots of people already use it.
