topic no notification sounds in XA Series

no notification sounds

Hi, ive just got a new XA1 and ive downloaded all my sounds onto the phone, im using my own ringtone for incoming calls but i cannot use my own sounds for incoming text notifications, any ideas?

Hi @villan57, welcome to the community.

You should be able to use a custom notification for SMS.

Open the SMS app, press the 3 dots button on the top right, select "Notification" then tap the '+' button.

Thanks for that Cameron T but that option does not come up, clicked on the 3 dots and you get, delete conversations, starred messages, and settings, if you click on settings and get the notifications page up and click on them and all you get is Sony/Experia sounds, there is no where to custom your sounds. It is very frustrating using these horrible sounds.

Sorry I missed out the settings part. When you select notification sound, do you have a + on the top right? This is where you select a custom ringtone.

If not, have you disabled the app "Sound picker"? You can find this under Settings > Apps. You may need to press the 3 dots and select "Show system" if it does not show.

Hi Cameron T, it took a while to figure out but i finally got there (i think lol) it was all down to messing about with sound picker, I feel a lot happier customising my phone and I would like to thank you very much for your help and guidance. Much appreciated.

Hi Cameron T, well mate to be honest I'm not 100% sure, i disabled sound picker and nothing happened so i clicked to reset all apps and then in the 3 dots it gave choices of sound picker, media, files and something else i thought was documents, i clicked on sound picker and then the magical + plus sign appeared that sent me to my sounds, anyway it is sorted now mate and thank you very much for your help.

Ah OK. It might have had the wrong app selected to choose sounds. I am glad it is working
