Contacts- Stopped working

Hello,

I just bought Sony XA1. The phone was initially very slow and the battery was draining too much. After multiple software updates the battery drain is a little less(still i feel its discharging pretty fast compared to other android phones) and when I'm unable to open CONTACTS application. It says ' Contacts isn't responding'. I tried restarting it in the safe mode.

Kindly help me with this.

Yes. Even in safemode the contacts isn’t opening
