Apps on sd card not updating

Xa Ultra with a Sony micro sd card. Some apps that are on sd card will not update have tried clearing cache to no avail. They will update if moved from sd to internal memory but that is a pain and also defeats the purpose of using an sd card. Any help would be appreciated.

That's rather odd, are you manually updating the apps or have you set it up to automatic?

Set to auto update and all apps that are on sd were transferred using storage and memory transfer data
