Hi, I've just switched from a Microsoft Lumia 640 to your Xperia XA. The two problems I have are:

1/ My sd card has games on it I want to load, but although the card goes in fine, I don't see how I can access it to see what's on it. I put it back into my Lumia and everything is there, then put it back into my XA and don't know where to go from there to access it.

2/ None of my contacts are on my new phone.

I'm hoping you can steer me right on both of these issues?

Many thanks,

BE.

Hi @BuckEejit, welcome to the community.

1. The games on your SD card will not work with Android. Windows phones use a different operating system so many of the files stored on there, including games, will not work. You can download games and applications from the Google Play Store and they will work with your phone.

2. You will need to create a back up of your contacts into a .vcf file. This is performed differently on different phones, so for help on how to do this on your Windows phone you will need to ask Microsoft.
Once you have the file saved to your SD card, in your Xperia handset open up contacts, press the options button (3 dots on the top right), and select "Import". Choose "From SD" and you should see the back up of your contacts. Select that, and this will bring all your contacts to your Xperia.

You can use the default file manager which can be found under Settings > Storage > Options (3 dots) > Advanced > Storage > SD Card.

Or, you can download a third party file manager from the Play Store.

I decided to leave my sd card with my Windows games on it in my Lumia, and bought a new one for my Xperia xa. It accepted fine so I downloaded a few new (to me) games from Play Store.

After following your useful steps to view my new sd card (thank you), I don't see any games on it. I assumed downloaded stuff would automatically go there, but I'm guessing not as all I see is the following:

.android_secure

Android

LOST.DIR

customized-capability.xml

Since I've been playing the games is it safe to guess they've saved to my sim card? If so, how do I transfer them to my sd card and how can I ensure all future downloads go straight to there?

You can transfer some (not all) of the data to the SD card on some apps. It is up to the developer of the application to allow this though, so not all apps can be moved.

To move the app data to an SD card, go to Settings > Apps > [App you want to move] > Storage > Change > SD Card.
