Is there any setting or application for xperia play that will have an outgoing sms/mms or call icon that will display on the status bar until it is sent or done?

can you elaborate?

if its MMS

open the messaging app -> MENU -> settings -> delivery report (check it)

Like for the status icon on the upper part of the screen where the signal, battery, sound and time is located. Is there an icon which display when sending an SMS/MMS or Call is in progress (like for nokia phones when sending)? The only status is for recieved SMS/MMS and missed calls.

the messages should be sent as soon as you tap Send, w/o any lag, unless there's a connection problem, there is a Call in progress icon, you will see it as soon as you are dialing.

Thanks, I just want to easily know the status of the sending message if it was successfully sent or failed without actually going back to the message.

ok, if for some reason the message its not sent you will get a notification
