My Xperia SP is SO SLOW...HELP!!!!

Hi there!

I recently bought an Xperia SP and had it unlocked fully so now i can use any SIM.

But it seems that there is a problem: my phone is slow. I only have a handful of apps installed, nothing is programmed or working in the background or Sync is turned off.

I checked the OS and it is still stuck to Android 4.1.2 but the official Sony Mobile website says the latest is 4.3.

Is there an app to help speed up my phone?

Why is my phone not detecting the 4.3 update?

Please advice. Thanks.

phone speed on processor not on any app

>make sure you dont have any task killer app, check in settings -> apps -> running -> is there any app which you are not using it but still running in the background(not the app which is pre installed on phone, so dont do anything to those)

>next do ;you have any app which has high end graphics used ?? if so try to remove it and check it

>do you have Chrome installed on phone ?? some users said this is causing phone to get slow so try to remove it and try it

I had made sure there are no tasks or apps running in the background. I have no anti-virus or tasks killer apps that are installed as i know they themselves are the casue of the slowdown.

I'm curious as to why Chrome will slow down your phone? And does it drain the battery as well? What alternative browser can you giuys recommend?

I'm from the UK btw. It does say Vodafone & O2 but that is irrelevant as although my network is EE my phone itself IS unlocked. And the Sony Mobile UK website DOES say 4.3 is available. Doesn't make sense to me at all i'm afraid.

Well try to disable something in the phone like the application which come whit phone I mine, if you don't use it and I think half of team are in standby mode you can disable in settings - application - all application I did and like get free space in phone and got a free ram ... Try maybe will help you

Yes chrome problem reported my many users..you can disable it not uninstall...dolphin browser or Firefox are good

And update didn't hit uk unbranded

reset your phone regulary..after 2 days or when you fell phone get slower..that will help for better performance

cause after some day ram overload with apps and performance will decreased

and disable apps you wont to use setting>apps>all

DONT disable apps that you dont know what is

Actually latest chrome had some bugs which tend to absorb processor speed of the phone, many users said that, being said so any other sony users face this problem we tend to give this solution, amazingly it worked for many!!!, so it was a twitch we give it to you,

BTW the browser i use is firefox but i dont use often to be honest, i use browser which came along with my phone, it wont lags or nothing,

my battery back up is good, i can use my phone for 2 days with out any problem :):)

I understand Chrome slows the phone down and sometimes apps that run at the background slows it all down so i will follow those advice.

But it still not a comfort for me that software/firmware updates does improve the phone and still no sight of Android 4.3 on my phone.

Updates and optimisation will work miracles for Sony. Only if they do it.

yeah it might, once happened when i tried to upgrade my phone using Wifi it had trouble while installing it was not installed fine, so later connected to computer using Broadband and did it, it installed great, when ever any one ask for update, i suggest them to install using broadband(i am not saying it wont work with WIfi, according to me its good to install with broadband), many users find without any issues.

>so in your case, try to do update once again who knows it might fix the issue,make sure you keep backup if you are willing to do it, so you can wait till next update!!

It has been 2 days post-unlocking of my Xperia SP and stillno 4.3 update.

Connected it to my Mac using Bridge and still no update.

Either Sony is not quite clear with the suppose dupdates and are altogether lying.

I uninstalled the updates for chrome and my phone works fine now.

Settings>Apps>Chrome>Uninstall updates.

Thanks a bunch, also shared this with another thread. You will still be able to use chrome but effectively remove the updates to chrome and return it to it's primary version no biggie for me.
