xperia sp 4.3 problem after updating

After doing the 4.3 update I have the following issues:

1. my home screen has a wide red band at the top with the words 'Could not load widget'

2. I note the phone takes a lot longer to start after being turned off.

I have tried using PC companion to repair, but I get the message the phone is fine, with latest updates & repair is not an option.

Thanks for any ideas for a fix.

Download sony update service and also attempt a repair.

OK I could now do a repair which appears to have fixed the problem, thanks.

Any ideas how to turn off or delete the Sony Select feed that now appears in the middle of the screen?

The best option is to make a backup of only sms, contact and bookmarks via Sony Pc Companion and make a hard reset . I had also some problems after update: restoring to default totally fixed my issues

Press the Sony feed with your finger and keep pressing the picture while dragging it to the trash can which will appear at the bottom of the screen.
