I have this phone for about 2/3 months no complaints awesome phone..
But now I have a very big problem it looks like it is stuck in a loop of some sort
Yesterday before a go to bed I saw that it had like 12 % of battery I didint plug it to charge
Anyways I woke up today and the phone was dead so I plugged it to the wall charger then soft red light came on
and I thought it was charging but after a while the red light went away the screen came on and showed "SONY'
then a picture of a drained battery and then switched off .. I left it again and it did the same thing over and over for about
an hour .. Then I tried to power it on and nothing after a while it did eventually power on but came to the pin request said that my battery has 0% and turned off again and it does the same thing over and over again..

My guess is that the battery is too drained but don't know a solution
.. Also I tried everything with the PC software the repair and stuff and still nothing ..

Sorry for the long speech but in my country the service that is supposed to repair the phone is on a holiday and doesn't work until 5th of Jan.. And I need my phone ..

Any help will be much appreciated..

Nevermind i managed to fix it on my own. Turns out i was right the problem was that the battery didnt charge coz it was too drained so I
fixed it by letting it get to the sony screen and then reset with the back button and unplug the charger /
Then plug the charger back let it again get to the sony screen and then reset again . And after 9/10 attempts it showed a green light rather than red .. Then i did the same thing twice and it somehow started charging and booted to android
Seems silly i know but works ..
Anyways if anyone else has this problem just do the same after a while it will work..

Hi, I've got the same charging problem, but your suggested re-re-re-re-restart options doesn't work with mine. My Experia SP is about 3 months old and still running Android 4.1. Tried several things including different (proper) cables and adapters. It's impossible to remove the battery, so I'm done with it and be ready for sending it back for service repair.

After that i turned it again on and the battery showed 33% of battery ONLY! Actually a about 55% drop in 5 minutes....

Now i booted with safe mode and i charging it .... lets see what happen....

**bleep** you SP you continue to surprise me....

"Battery depleted" that's the most dangers condition for battery, be sure to shut down the phone when critical level achieved. Some time low battery protection doesn't work because of miss calculation on remaining juice due to charging habits. To make sure accurate calculation try to recharge at 10% until full once in 2 week. For daily always charge above 20% up to 90% dont push to 100% it will good for the battery, thats why the led green at 90%.

Indeed,Li-Ion shouldn't be left to discharge completely, they must be connected to charger somewhere around 10-15%.And charging often is recommended to extend their life.

It rebooting itself again and again without stopping even i press the off button it starts again.

I'm scared because this procedure is going on for the last 3 hours and the phone has overheated, i think its over 50 degrees i almost cannot touch it in my hands a lot seconds...

I think it will blow off the battery.

i'm strungling with this phone from the moment that sony released the buggy 4.3 update (February i think)

From then i downgraded my phone in March to 4.1.2 and all was going just fine! No problem at all.

Then suddenly before 2 weeks i had a sudden shut down... the phone started again by itself and nothing else happened. Ok i say its from heat because i played a game and the phone was hot.

After that 4 days later the phone shut off after a call.... but it doesn't started by itself, i forced it.

From then i had some random restarts specially after i hang up a call. THen i upgraded to 4.3 new update .205

Everything went ok for a day no restart. After that the phone restarted again !

The last week my phone shutting off several times during a day so i did CLEAN SOFTWARE REPAIR via SUS erased all data.

When the phone started it shut off immediately and started to reboot itself permanently.

After that i did another repair , the phone shut off again. Then the phone shut off if i plug it off the power cable. Also the battery indicates 30% and after 5 minutes 88% then 100% and then shutting off. After reboot i see 50% ... the battery completely gone mad....

I dont know . What is happening with this phone really . Its the first time i see this behaviour from a technologically advanced device....

Seriously i want to sell this phone when will come back from service bright new, i dont care i just want some of my money back something.

you know , I think Xperia SP was a good idea for Sony marketing but they did it not good as they want to do!
I think this device has some problems in hardware that they couldn't fix it with softwares update!
I have another problem with my display screen! after more than one month I realized that there is a brighter area (very small area about 1 X 1 mm^2) on the up side of my screen! with no impact or any other physical accidents! and yet I have this problem and should take it to guarantee service to solve the problem!
generally I should say that I'm not pleased with sony and next time that I will going to buy a smart phone I will think about other brands!
