Wifi switching on autonatically xperia sp

Eventhough is switched off the wifi and disabled the checkbox "notify me when an open network is avaialble " . It is getting switched on automatically . Its really annoying me . Please give me some solution.

HI all,

After the last update (254), my phone was struggling to stay connected to any wifi (including mine at home). It never had problems like that before the update.

now the thing I did, was to simply go through the list of wifi networks i previously connected to, and remove quite a few of the "out fo range" ones (especially the ones it is very unlikely I will be able to connect to them from the other side of the world )

guess what?

the phone now stays connected to the wifi !

as an indication, I've now 31 wifi networks.

PS: Since that update, I also noticed the quality of a phone call is mediocre, blank screen when trying to wake up the screen and sometimes the phone doesn't accept calls unless restarted. now that the WIFI is better, I will see if there is any improvements on these. The blank screen is still happening, but i hope the call will be better...

As I thought, the quality of the call is MUCH MUCH better now that the WIFI is sorted out.

Hello all!

I'm reading here carefully.. but never saw a problem like mine:

WIFI turns ON spontaneously!

Can't identify what triggers this!

I've tried all kinds of resets/restarts/task killings etc.

Any suggestions?

Repair your phone with SUS and stay away from taskillers, task managers, antivirus, ram apps, booster apps, etc

check stamina mode in settings and see if wifi location is turn off not on that should help

Hi all AGAIN..

Problem persists:

Repaired phone with SUS and no taskillers, task managers, antivirus, ram apps, booster apps, etc.......

Wifi goes on ALWAYS after restart.. plus other actions (not yet identified) .. like wake up/on-off etc...

hate wifi as it kills battery life, when i dont use it...

ideas??

Have you tried by switching OFF "Location Based WiFi " in Power Management?
If it is not solved,i suggest you disable/uninstall online app that you frequently use(Like facebook or Twitter).I suggest you disable it first.

Do remember DO NOT UNINSTALL PRELOADED APPS.

Location Based WiFi works by remembering and learning the pattern when is the time you often use wifi and activates the Wifi automatically.So you won't have to press it again and also saves battery.But it only works on a Wifi that you set with(you can set multiple of it,those that is not set will not be connected even if the connection is available).

If you uninstall preloaded apps(its rare if you could uninstall preloaded apps),you might have difficulty in restoring it again but mostly you can't uninstall it.This is because our phone uses Android as it OS platform so apps derived from Google like Google Maps,Gmail,Google Search and Google Plus is already preloaded and CANNOT be deleted at all.

... so Location Based WiFi turns wifi on triggered by TIME... if the set wifi is not in range - it keeps the wifi on??

I uninstalled preinstalled antivirus - no problem.. Others (unfortunately) I can not uninstall.. instead I disabled and unchecked the 'show notifications' box, what did I gain by that? Did I save some RAM usage or something?

Haha,okay my friend,i might be wrong,the actual reason is Location Based WiFi only SCANS the area within the pattern time.So it WON'T switch on the WiFi if there's no saved WiFi network.

The preloaded apps i meant was Google apps(Gmail,Maps and so on),while your antivirus is preinstalled,so it is possible for the preinstall apps to be uninstalled but instead,preloaded apps does not comply with this situation.Yep,if you disable the apps that was running in the background(but you are not using it) then it will save more RAM.But unchecking the "Show Notification" box will not effect anything.

This didn't work for me. I have updated to 4.3 and having loads of problems with wifi.

Did you click on 'Forget' netweork?

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Check if you may have Location based Wi-Fi enabled.

Settings > Power management > Location based Wi-Fi.
