PC Companion Update

I have installed PC companion on my PC (Windows 7), it is saying that a new version 2.01.210 is available

I have tried to update this version but after completion of downloading the system gives the message

error in installation

and it does not update the PC companion,

i am unable to use the PC companion, I am also unable to transfer data to my phone via mass storage or media transfer protocl

please anybody help in these issues. thanx

try uninstalling PCC then re-download the file, also turn off your firewall and/or antivirus

uliwooly thanx for your help, but please tell me how to remove firewall. i am not using any antivirus.

by re-installing you mean to say that i remove PC companion from my PC first and then re-install it. correct???

on your PC

control panel -> uninstall a program -> uninstall PCC

control panel -> system and security -> windows firewall -> turn windows firewall on or off (its on the side)

i have tried this with firewall off, but it is not updating the PCC

i have re-installed the PCC but its unable to update

it downloaded all the update (17.9MB) but then an error message appears

and also also I cannot use PCC.

dear uliwooly please also advise how to transfer media and other files from my pc to phone as i am connecting my phone via Mass storage mode and its not working

that is the method recommended for windows users. thanx

I've had the same matter.

Please, radically uninstall PC Companion (i.e. by Revo Uninstaller o similar), reboot, optimize PC registry by means of a popular registry tools, and then copy the installer package of v. 2.01.210 on an external drive (External HD). Snooze antivirus, and click twice on icon of PC companion ON external HD: the installation process must start FROM another device, and NOT from PC itself.

thanx a lotfor your reply, but can you please explain a little more as i am not so good in computer things, i have few queries regarding your suggestions

1) I have already un-intalled PC Companion using its own un-intall option, so how can i radically un-install now and what is radically uninstall by the way?

2) can u please suggest some good PC registry tool and also what is its purpose?

3) please give me the link from where i can download the installer package of v.2.01.210

Dear Affie.arc,

the program I used for complete uninstall the damaged version of PC companion is Revo Uninstaller (some versions freeware on web). To have a goog function, I suppose that you must have the PC companion jus installed. So that, I suggest

1) to reinstall PC companion on Your PC;

2) Install Revo Uninstaller

3) Uninstall PC Companion by means of Revo Uninstaller (or similar) in "advanced mode", deleting ALL the system configurations it suggests;

4) Reboot;

5) Make a System Registry optimization by means ov Registry Fix (some versions freeware in Web), or with a similar program;

6) Rebbot

7) Download PC companion last version from:

http://http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/mobilephones/downloads/subject/pccompanion/xperiaarc?cc=gb&lc=en

after choised lenguage (I attempt so send you the program in ITALIAN; I don't think it may be illegal!)

😎 DON'T unpack the program!

9) Copy the program package in an external hard disk;

10) Click twice on that package IN EXTERNAL HD while it is connected DIRECTLY to your PC
