Xperia J switching off randomly

I've been using this phone for 4 months now. Its started doing this just a week ago

The battery reaches 20% and the phone switches off. I try to turn it on but then the red LED blinks thrice. I need to connect it to a charger and then it turns on just fine.

It used to reach till 7 or even 5% before. Now it just switches off at 20%. It's become pretty inconvenient for me so if anybody can help me with this problem its really appreciated

Maybe its something to do with apps running in the background? Have you tried going to - Settings > Power Management > (enable) Extended Standby Mode.

Sounds strange that the phone turns off with 20 % battery level. Try uninstall any task managers or antivirus apps.

Remove the battery for a while and charge to 100% when phone is turned off.

If the problem persist I suggest that you update/repair the phone software using PC Companion:

Sorry should have posted this before. I managed to fix the problem. It was battery calibration. I had to re-calibrate it. It works just fine now. I can use the phone till its drained below 20% too now.
