I have Xperia T running android 4.1.2 (LT30p, build 9.1.A.1.140)

First problem: if I made a call but switched to the loudspeaker before the call connected, there was no sound from the loudspeaker. If I allowed the call to connect and then enabled the loudspeaker, everything was fine. This was annoying but I could obviously work around it.

Yesterday (sunday) all sound from the loudspeaker ceased (music etc. was working fine via loudspeaker on saturday). It will not play ringtones when someone calls me; it will not play music etc. from any app. Xperia Dianostics run on the loudspeaker do not produce any sound (sound is fine from the Ear speaker though). I tried the SoundAbout app and was unable to force any sound from the loudspeaker.

Detection of headphone jack seems fine. Music stops when the jack is removed and SoundAbout detected when the jack was reinserted. I guess this means it's not a stuck headphone problem but just in case I have inserted/removed the headphone jack many times; it is detected correctly each time.

I have used the Sony Update Service to reinstall firmware. The problem remains.

I have turned the phone off/on several times but the problem remains.

I have tried interrupting music from wired and bluetooth connections in the hope that the phone realises the loudspeaker exists, but it hasn't worked.

I have no idea what to do to resolve this. Can anyone advise? A phone that won't ring is no good to me!

Hi dancap,

I had the same problem. You were close to the solution, at least this works for me: when you have the earphones plugged in and you probably listen to the Walkman app, don't remove the earphones when you want to stop the music. It is true, that it detects that you removed, but there will be no sound on the speaker. Not even when you restart.

Try this one instead: close the music manually, in the app, then close the app, (make sure it is closed and it not runs in the background, remove from the task manager). THEN release the earphones. If it doesn't work, try to remove and plug in several times.
It is probably a bug caused by the app, or it's a firmware problem, that SHOULD be patched. It is since the first updates and seemingly won't be repaired.

I hope it helps...

Here's what I tried :

Run the walkman app

Play music

Pause music

Exit walkman (press back twice)

Check the running apps; walkman was listed so i used "force stop" to kill it

Remove headphones

Run a music app (i used music folder player)

...and no sound from the loudspeaker

I notice that sometimes when i disconnect headphones the music will play from the earphone speaker. This never happened before the loudspeaker stopped working.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you tried to connect/ disconnect the earphones after you closed the app?Sometimes It doesn't work for me for the first time.

To close out this thread:

Eventually i gave up trying to solve the problem myself. I contacted Sony UK support and was told the phone has a 24 month warranty. I don't have proof of purchase but as the phone was launched Sept'2012 i figured it must still be within the warranty period.

Sony sent me instructions on where to send the phone and, about 2 weeks later, it was back with me and fully functional. I must congratulate Sony on their really excellent customer support in this case.

What was fixed: the paperwork says "replacement component [1263-1074] carrier lower frame assembly"; followed by "software upgrade, live call passed, quality control passed".

I also have a problem with sound from the speakers in my phone Xperia T (the TOP Sony phone of 2012).

Sometime after disconnecting the headset, there is no sound from the speakers in the phone (both: earsp. & loudsp.).

I have to connect and then disconnect my headset, then I must chek sound by Walkman or Volume key...

I must chek the speakers everytime after disconnecting the headset - else - i can go away with my phone without sound.

How can we know, is it problem in the connector or in the electronic switches and/or software (firmware) ?

Try the soundabout app. It allows you to send audio to a particular speaker and detects jack in/out.

It seems the problem was (is) in software. I downgraded the software of my Xperia_T from JB to ICS (+ all my apps), and i didn`t observe any problems with the sound from the speakers after disconnecting the headset.

Later i upgraded firmware from ICS to JB (+ all my apps) and it seems the problem is still present, but it happens more and more seldom :smileyhappy:.
