I just a performance test (*#*#7378423#*#*) and the lightsensor values stay on 0% In clear daylight and in the dark. I presume the values should react immediately.

I'm also not happy with the touchscreen. Sometimes I have to tap many times on a button before it reacts. Is this normal with Sony phones? A friend of mine has a Samsung and some of the apps are the same as mine and he does not have this problem. Anyone else with these problems and is there a solution?

This is the 3d time I did a re install. I'm still busy with re installing app, setting etc. It seems it's the only answer the Sony "experts" can give. That is, if they react in the first place at all. (Not you uliwooly, I read a lot of helpful answers from you)

This seems to be a problem with the service menu and not the sensor. I tested this here and in the service menu it stays at 0. The sensor does however work, the phone adjusts brightness of the display when i tilt it towards a lamp.

Regarding the touch display i recommend that you contact a service location or local Sony Xperia support.

I just got some more information and this is indeed a problem that's isolated to the service menu. It's not a general problem with the light sensor, it works as intended in the phone.

The adjustment of the backlight has a builtin delay so that it doesn't keep dimming up/down. Try keeping the phone under bright light for at least 10 seconds and when testing the phone when it's dark you need to wait at least 90 seconds to see if it dimms down.

If your display doesn't adjust when you do this there may be a hardware problem and i suggest you contact a local service location for assistance.

Hello.

My Xperia T has the same problem with autobrightness and ALS (ambient light sensor) on Jelly Bean.

On Jelly Bean autobrightness with ALS works, but does not work correctly.

On JB the value of ALS in Service menu is 0 always. Well, it`s not right.

I guess the problem is not in Service menu only, because the display dimms down too slowly - please, try to compare on ICS.

Also, i guess it`s not good for battery lifetime when display dimms too slowly.

On ICS autobritness works correctly and quickly (displ. dimms down) after changing ext. light.

On ICS the value of ALS is changing in Service menu.

Other problems of firmware:

- time-to-time display dimms up & down... for example, while some apps are updating data, but no need display dimms down & up at that time.

- the slide of the desks is not smooth and slide effect is ugly on JB. But the slide of apps screens is smooth and nice effect.

Q: When can we expect new firmware without problems?

P.S.

About positive of JB fw: good sound settings and color gamma.

Just got my phone back from the repair center and the lightsensor worked.....for a few hours. Now it's just as before. But I got an added bonus. The phone does'nt recognize my SD card anymore.

When are you gonna take customers seriously and come up with real solutions and real information to on updates. I will not bring it back to the service center again, because it only got worse. Not only do I have a lightsensor which is not working but also a faulty SD card. And please don't give a reaction if your only answer is: Reinstall the software with SUS. I already have rinstalled it 5 times, and everey time it's costs me a lot of time to reinstall the apps, acounts and settings. I had Samsung SI before, in the two years I had this phone I only had to reinstall 1 time. Even my serviceprovider admits there a lot of problems with this phone. Do something or Sony will lose customers very fast. I am sick and tired of it and I will not recomend this phone to anyone I know. It's a beautiful phone but it does'nt work as it supposes to.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems after the repair.

If your phone can't detect any SD-cards (make sure you tested more then one) and light sensor doesn't work in the phones standard menus (don't use the service test) i suggest you contact your local Sony Xperia support (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/) to see how they can assist you if you don't want to contact the service location again.

Regarding the ambient light sensor test in the service menu this is a problem in the service menu application, not a problem with the sensor. It still works as it should in the phone and it will dimm display up/down. There's however a delay set for dimming in the software (10 sec. for dimming up and 90 sec. for dimming down). This delay is not a bug.

Dear Rickard!
10sec... 90sec delay in software... - it would be funny if it weren't so sad.
How can we change this dеlay ? ... The display on my Xperia T is too dark or too bright often...

My old Xperia Neo V does not have this problem.
We have 2 upgrades of firmware of JB: A.0.492 & A.1.140 after A.0.489, and we still have the problem with autobrightness... in top phone of 2012 - Xperia T.

Turning back to the problems with autobrightness of JB firmware for Xperia T, i will try to explain.

Situation: Today it`s a very bright sun.

I hear incoming call, and my phone is in the pocket (or in the bag). It takes for example ~3-5sec, when i am taking out the phone from the pocket. The caller is waiting...

The pocket is the dark place and the brightness was minimal.

On the bright sun i can`t see who is calling me, because the display does not change the brightness up qiuckly, because there is a few sec. (~5-10sec, as sony support said...) delay for dim UP

Also I can`t see the slide\unlock. The caller was waiting... and I have missed call.

The situation with br-s dim down is bad too. Because: i came inside the dark building from the bright street with active display with max brightness and the too bright display was dazzling my eyes

and also discharging the battery. (Why do i have to wait 60 sec for dim down ?... as a metter of fact i set 30sec delay for screen off in display settings...- less then the dim down delay...)

I have to turn off and then turn on the dispaly by the power key, and only then the brightness becomes low, and too low - i must wait again (~5sec) for dim up.

It`s not right. It`s realy bug and problem as for TOP phone. I am sure its easy to fix this bug for programmer, but I can`t understand, why Sony ignores this problem ?

Can't agree more with Alex307. The auto-brightness is very bad! It is always too dark or bright. The delay must be changed by user or Sony must improve it by itself. I also had Xperia Neo and no problems on that. I think the darking is way too slow and brightning too. Why would you use darkning( dim) 90 seconds??? Thats way too long. Please give us some feedback if the Developers are working on it. Maybe this is fixed in Android 4.2.2.? Does a Sony Rep. know it 4.2.2. is being build or atleast give us a hint
