Can´t connect phone to pc using usb cable :(

I upgraded my Xperia Arc to ICS during the weekend. New outlook and new capacity. Two things, though:

1) I can´t connect the phone to my pc using an usb cable (tried two different cables). That has never been a problem before, but it is now. What shall I do?

2) The camera no longer offers different modes/options (landscape, beach, etc), (light +/-), etc. This feels like a loss. Or?

1. Did u in meantime damaged contacts ? Try reinstalling drivers and pc suite. And select in settings what you want (MTP by deffault)

2. Camera is now auto detecting scene(yea I was kinda WTF?! when noticed but its fine less problems for u :smileygrin: )

The info about the camera was interesting. I appreciate less problems.

Damaged contacts? No.

In settings I selected MTP (while even testing MSC without any result, though).

PC Suite? I installed ICS using Sony PC Companion ... You suggest I delete that and reinstall ... what exactly?

yea. reinstall it. also check under device manager is ur phone shown up. can u charge over usb?

I can charge the phone using usb, yes.

Now, I read somewhere else that there has been problems installing ICS while using a pc with Windows XP. I didn¨t know that beforehand, though. Could that be the reason why I have this problem? I that case I´ll have to find another pc first before reinstalling the PC companion ...

Simply reinstall it. Try other pc you will see. Just do what i wrote u up. it will work

Another thing is: If I can not connect my phone to the pc, how shall I succeed in reinstalling anything on the phone?

All that I wrote is done on PC :smileygrin: not on Xperia

Sorry for perhaps appearing dull - but what if I reinstall it all on the pc and then is unable to connect the Xperia to the pc?? What have I achieved then?

If you do it right it will most likely work if it doesnt work then we will go further in solving ur issue.

PS: It would be much easier if u just try rather than writing milion questions. Its 15 minutes of time :smileygrin:

The thing is that most likely you windows is f-cked up. Thats why drivers are dissaperaing /but programs stay/ since u couldnt understand what i talked in previous post. can you decide is your windows corrupted (laggy,slow). If it is best it would be to reintall it and start fresh. Or use system restore.

The PC is one year old and works otherwise very well (speedy). Still, I understand your frustration.

And you´re right, I´m not a professional programmer. The PC and the phone are merely tools for me to do what I really do.

Try using system restore and see if it works
