Having trouble with Android Market

Help! i can't connect my phone to the android store powered by google play.
when i click "Install" of a app with my computer a pop-up message says that i have to connect my phone to the server by choosing the white shopping bag app icon in the phone's menu.
in that app i entered my e-mail address(which is the same address as this account) and password and then clicked "sign-in"
but after about 2 minutes it say's "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server"

but i can surf through the internet by using the browser in the phone so it can't be a problem with my internet connection isn't it?
what should i doooooo?
p.s- my phone is xperia mini pro

Hi there

I deleted your other thread , this thread is enough

Try to clear it's data

Settings > aplications > all > google play > clear data

Try to connect again

nop it didn't work.

Settings > aplications > manage aplications >all..............but there's no "google play" in that list

i didn't delete anything refering to android or google. but is there a way i could get the things you mentioned to my phone without connecting to the server?:smileycry:

But there's "Market" (instead of android market) under the logo of android market. i cleared its data too but it didn't work

Were you ever able to use google play/ android market earlier ?

You are from which country ?

Is android market available for you ?

is your mobile rooted ?

It means first you have to setup the google id on the phone

Don't you see this app in applications list

no this is my first time using google play(i bought this phone 3days ago)

i'm from Sri Lanka

(idon't know what do you mean by "android market") no but in the application list there is just"Market"

what do you mean by "rooted"

i don't see the icon you're showing in my phonebut this is the icon i have, and i thought it was the app icon which the google play site told me about.

O i missed one of your Qs

yes i typed my google ID (my gmail address) and its password in the phone. then clicked sign in. then after about 2 minutes it says "Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server"

...just connect your phone to a stable internet, wait until the app updgrades itself, if it does'nt work maybe you can try this http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/05/11/download-latest-google-play-store-v3-5-19/

Try to do a factory data reset

Settings > privacy > factory data reset

remember you will loose all data on phone so backup if you wish

After factory data reset , do all the setup again and it should work this time

See how it goes

i still have android gingerbread (2.3.3) in my phone. (didn't update into 4.0.2.A.0.62 because some say ICS is not fullly trouble shooted). do you think that's the problem?

when i go to Settings > privacy > there are 2 options

1.factory data reset

2.settings reset

does the second option enough? or do i have to follow 1st option?

if you have android 2.3.4 press and hold the power button > screenshot

if you have android 4.0 press and hold both power button and volumen down
