Getting error messages when trying to upgrade my Sony xperia arc to ics

I have a Sony Xperia Arc, i recently found out that there is an update available for my smartphone to latest android os ICS. So i have been trying to upgrade my smartphone since two months now bt i am unable to do so. I am getting an error message again and again,it says that "unable to start or install phone software update components". I have have tried calling to xperia customer care and they told me to download the java thing and install it and about turning the firewall and antivirus off. I have tried all that bt it appears that nothings working out. So please help me with this. I would also like to let you know that I have latest version of pc companion and my pc os is windows 7. Thank you.

Turn off your firewall and antivirus and try SUS

The only thing can make it fix is "installing flash driver",So switch off your phone and connect one end of data cable to your pc and while connect another end of data cable to ur phone press and hold volume down key and you can see flash driver being detected and installed at bottom right.

If at all your PC hangs while installing flash driver,reboot in safe mode and install it
