Xperia Go gets scratch on its screen

Hi,

My 5 day old Xperia Go gets a scratch on its screen.

Can I avail my warranty to replace the screen? What happened to one of the key features of xperia go

which is scratch resistant screen?:smileyconfused::smileycry:

This indeed is a problem my Xperia Actives screen was claimed to be scratch resistant but you still can get small scratches doesnt even noticing it. I agree thats kinda false advertising.
How bad is the scratch and maybe you know how did you get it? And look closely maybe it has screen protector on it?

The glass it is scratch resistant BUT it has a shatter proof sheet on top of it, and it's not scratch resistant nor scratch proof

Uliwooly is correct.

The scratch you will see on the screen will be on the shatter proof sheet and not on the handsets actual screen.

Yes, the shatter proof sheet is replaceable, but until you found a replacement it's advisable to keep the one you have on screen.

I have an Xperia Go and it most definitively does not have a screen protector on it. It does however come with one in the box (which I have no intention of mounting). This seemed to be the same with the Active. Some versions came with one pre-mounted, others not.

rbarmas might have a version that has a screen protector and that could be what was scratched, but all "scratch resistant" screens can be easily scratched by the right material. Soft metals like keys won't damage it, but a few grains of sand can.

The point of these "tough" phones is that they won't break and stop working in reasonably rough conditions (for electronics), not that they'll stay in perfect untouched condition. If this is what you want, you need to always have a screen protector on and replace it regularly as it gets scratched.

I'm happy with my Go so far, and I haven't been gentle with it at all and it's routinely exposed to water. My only complaint would be that the battery life isn't amazing and that the headphone jack is placed on the left side instead of the top or bottom. I don't know if this was done to improve water resistance when the cover is open (even though it's the no longer water/dust rated) or if it's just a dumb design choice. The back cover is a bit creaky too. Overall a nice phone though.

take a picture of a corner of the screen and then post it here, you'll see there is indeed a shatter proof film

I wonder why do they do that, some unit came with it pre installed, other not. thank god, mine was pre installed , I tried putting screen protector on my previous phone, it was a disaster, bubbles and fingerprints on the sticky side.

xperia go is nice successor to xperia active, its just that active is tad more sporty look. \m/

If it has one then it's the most perfect fit ever. On my old Active it was easily visible.

what is the differrence between anti-reflection coating installed in xperia go screen and shatter proof sheet installed in Xperia S?

I don't think the Go has an "anti-reflective coating". The screen is highly reflective. Whether a screen protector is preinstalled seems to depend on the version of the phone. Mine does not have one, but my Active did and I know for a fact that some Actives don't. This seems to be the same with many Sony/SE phones. Who knows why. Maybe a Sony representative can answer.

Support, kindly verify if there is a shatterproof sheet installed in xperia go screen. In my observation on my phone it looks like there is no shatterproof sheet installed.

You cannot be serious, what on earth is the purpose of a shatterproof sheet which is non replaceable and then calling the screen below it scratch resistant?

Surely since the sheet is part of the screen and does scratch, then it is simply false advertising.
