Not able to update to 6.0.B.3.171

For the update 6.0.B.3.171 , I am updating using PCC. In step 2, it shows a message in stepwise fashion-->that first disconnect the USB cable then switch off the phone for 5 secs, then connect USB cable to computer and while connecting Cable to phone press the lower volume button.

I am doing it, but still once I switch off the mobile and reconnect PCC doesn't detect it and my update get stuck at that

SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

India. Didnt update it yet, telling the thing which happened in .162. The update process is same irrespective of which version of firmware. Arnab.

I doubt 171 is released yet. I tried ota, PCC, and SUS, all which reutrned no new updates.

the problem yet to be solved..

Sony yet to officially confirm the issue and its solution after the update..

I dont knw hw to make the most out of this dumb phone....

Thanks, when it says 'switch off and wait for 5 secs" do you switch on after 5 secs or keep it switched off?One thing more it says 'keep the volume key presisng downwards while connecting the USB chord'...why is that for?:smileyconfused:

you keep it switched off,
you press and hold the volume key and insert the usb cord when the pc detects the device then release the volume key

.171 I suppose is a regional update(don't know the region) and it is not currently available in India.

wait for 5 secs with the phone off. Then plugin the cord in the phone with the volume lowering pressed. The phone switch on step is later. If you have already updated, kindly make a new thread listing the pros and cons of the update for others to refer to. Thank you and good luck. Arnab.
