topic M4 Screen burn in in M Series

I have had this phone for a while.

Recently the screen went very dim and the screen started to burn in images.

I have taken it to a technician and he told me it might be the screen IC thats getting hot and thats causing it. He told me to try and letting it cool down and trying again. So I did but it didnt show much difference.

I also read a forum saying its a third party app, which I also ruled out. It even shows the burn in when I boot my phone.

Is it possible that this is the IC or will a screen replacement do?
