Have you exposed the phone to water?

have you tried other headphones?

@Jaswinder1, also, check if there's any debris in the headphone jack that could interrupt the circuit.

Booting into safe mode may change personal UI customizations such as icons, folders and widgets.

When you restart to normal mode again, some 3:rd party apps that has a sign in may require that you sign in again. It will not delete your data though.

@Jaswinder1, the it sounds like it is a hardware issue. If you want to rule out all possibility of a software problem, run a software repair. Make sure you back up your phone first.

if by ''it's not working'' you mean that when you plug in the headphones you can't hear from the headphones but from the phone, try cleaning the inside of the phone( obliously where you plug in the headphonea) with a cottonswab .there's a chance that something got in between the headphone jack and the phone.
