I have the same problem. I own the Xperia L1 and I am unable to remove the cell information notification that only shows the name of the carrier so it really isnt effectively showing a notification that serves a very important purpose. The name of the carrier is something I already know. Thanks.

I couldnt take a screenshot because the phone wont take a screenshot of the notification lid you swipe down, it takes the screenshot of the homepage but not the lid.Took a pic from my other phone. So, basically this "cell information" message its always there and cant be removed and its straight up annoying. Claro is the name of my carrier. Thanks for the help. I also put in a new topic about the battery draining too fast, Ive read several reviews about how good the battery is on the L1 model but mine isnt the case, I bought the phone like 4 days ago, so before I go to the store to tell them they sold me a malfunctioning phone, I wanna get a real input on what to expect from this model. Can you help me? Thanks.
