Front camera not available

I'm currently using Sony Xperia C5 Ultra Dual. After I updated my software from 5.0 to 5.1, my front camera is no longer available. It says "Camera not available. Flashlight or Camera may be in use by another application. Close it and try again". I've tried many methods already including factory reset.

Sorry to hear this.

Did you have a backup that you restored after the factory reset or did you test the front camera before restoring any backup?

I'm sorry, the problem came after I updated my OS. I reset my phone because of the problem. Its not the reset that causes the problem.

Christofer's question was about backups you might have taken. If you restored a backup after a factory reset you might have restored a setting or app that caused the problem again even after the reset. So did you restore any backups after factory reset?

Restart your phone into safe mode and check if the problem persists (Click on blue link for instructions).

The problem still persists. I bought this phone because of the front camera, but its no longer functioning. It is very frustrating..

I have the same problem, I have cleaned out the cache then restarted it.. Didn't work. I did my factory reset setting.. Didn't work too. I have installed the PC companion, doesn't seem to help very much as it says that my phone is up-to-date.. Please give us the new update that works.

I just finished updating my phone using PC Companion. It does not solve the problem. What should I do next?

OMG.. For real? Wow, even the next update can't solve the problem? I just bought this phone last December. C5 is pretty useless without its front camera. Any explainations what causes the front camera to malfunction after the update?

I don't know if it was caused by the update, it could be a coincidence that it happened around the same time, the only way to find out is to get your device inspected.

If you don't mind possibly voiding the warranty, you could use flashtool and/or xperiafirm to downgrade the phone.

I did get my phone inspected, and they told me to wait for the next update
