topic Xperia C5 don't play videos in HD in C Series

The smartphone is great, has amazing features, but do not know if it is only mine, but I realized that it does not play videos in Full HD as stated and esplanado the settings. Videos on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Google, and YouTube, none of these services play the videos in HD, or rather the Xperia converts videos to 420p in low resolution. I wonder if it's just me or if you have any configuration to do. Thank you very much in advance.

@uliwooly,

Yes, in the YouTube app appears the option to change to 1080p resolution, but Facebook and Instagram not, even if the video is in HD, it starts at 1080p and reduces after 2 seconds to 240p. My WiFi connection is 15 megs, and only has my device Xperia connected C5. I do not know if this is a setup, but to be sure, I formatted it, and yet the problem persists. Already got in touch with Facebook, but I realized that it's not just him, but in other applications.

Also in various sites, the resolution is reduced. I wonder if there is a way to disable this automatic reduction.

@uliwooly

Right. Just I think not waste my time looking for solution on the forum Sony's own, it already had not done in other forums. If the problem was not only on my device, it is quiet, but it is. Anyway thanks for the opportunity.

Actually the C5 is able to play HD content beautifully, it is one of the biggest selling point of the device. What are you facing is down sampling that it's enforced by some carriers when using mobile data or by bad wifi signal. You say you have a 15mbps connection which should be suitable to watch videos but network congestion, bad signal, and overcrowded wifi network (without mentioning interferences) can provoke video quality issues.

When this happens to you, try to run a speed test (download the Ookla Speed Test from the app store) and check the download speed.

Just to be straight, I want to point that 15mbps are not 15mb/s, your actual speed is of 1.8mb/s speed, so if there are other people in your network streaming videos the quality will degrade for sure, not only for you but for everyone connected to your wifi.
