Hi all, just upgraded from a 12year old Samsung unit and had a few questions. My current set up is wall mounted with an optical cable going to my old 7.1 Samsung speaker system. I run a Humax FreeSat back to the tv which seems to work.

My main question is around using my Sony remote to turn on/off my samsung amp? I could get rid of a remote if I could just power it.

I have read the faqs and guessed the build in freeview/guide is a little useless. Recording two channels, pausing life tv is a necessity so I've stuck with my humax.

Anyone got any must have settings or setups for this series of tv?

Hello @KyotoUK,

Toslink (Toshiba link)/optical can't transmit any "control" signal in any way. You can only do that via CEC/ARC.

From how you wrote your post, it sounds like your sound system doesn't have a HDMI ARC port, does it?

I dont think so, the bluray amp is the samsung ht-d5530.

I tried setting the tv button on the humax 1100s but the samsung codes do not trigger the bluray amp to turn off. All I need is a power button to work to flick the amp on or off.
