External HDD Drive registration

Just got a 2Tb external drive to record from my new TV. The TV will not recognise the drive and says to check the connection. Computers in house see the drive no bother. How can I get TV to recognise and register the drive.

Tried the trouble shooting steps, no joy. Looked on website and only one suggestion to format drive via PC to fat32. Hope that works.

Mine sees 2TB ok but I had to ensure it was formatted to ntfs as fat 32. (Also you cannot put it into the blue coloured usb as that’s not powered highly and seems to be more for service.)

However to get this to work I had to complete a factory reset. It didn’t do this from the box so I’m unsure what the dealership did to the tv.
Also mine refuses to read my 5TB - it recognises but won’t read it but my other two Sony TVs read it easily.
Try the factory reset of the TV first and also the ntfs formatting if that doesn’t work
